ProfessorXubangShen was born in January 1933. He is an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and an expert in computer science and technology. He was selected asCAS membersin 1997 and has been appointed as professor and PhD supervisor since 2001. He graduated from Peking University in 1957 and then worked at Institute of Computer of CAS. He developed China’s first Bipolar Small-scale integrated circuits aerospace guidance computer. He led and guided the development of computers and chips research in China. He obtained three National Science and Technology Progress Awards and published five monographs. He has been awarded as National Outstanding Experts and was a delegate of the 10th and 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Workstation Introduction
To enhance independent innovation, promote the scientific research ability and cultivate innovative talents, the school invited academician Xubang Shen from the Chinese Academy of Science and his research team to jointly apply for the Academician Workstation----Embedded and Intelligent System of Henan Province Academician Workstation in 2011.
The research teammainly research on the key technology of massive information processing system model, data computation platform and massive information processing network oriented to the internet of things. By the technological combination of RFID, sensor data acquisition, ROF exchange and transmission, complete the corresponding research results with independent intellectual property rights. Academician workstation has become a base for training embedded and intelligent system talent and key components test based on IOT.
Under the guidance of the academician Shen, a highly skilled research team and advanced experimental conditions has been established. This platform has important significance for the education and teaching, science research, discipline construction, talent team construction, cooperation and serve the local economy construction. The establishment of this workstation promotes cooperation and communication between research team of Zhengzhou University of Light Industry and academic authority, and improves the scientific research ability of ZZULI.

Discipline and main research direction
Embedded and intelligent system belongs to the first level discipline of computer science and technology, which is one of the current research focuses. At present, the numbers of research team carry out their study around the four research directions as follow.
1.Research on embedded information acquisition.
In this direction, the objective of research is to connected any objects to the Internet through the radio frequency identification (RFID), infrared sensors , global positioning system, laser scanners and other information sensing device. Anything in IOT cancommunicate and exchange information each otheras agreed in the agreement. we can realize the intelligent recognition of objects, positioning, tracking, monitoring and management.
Research on key technology of the IOT, including embedded software and hardware which is used in industrial level application system, intelligent mobile phone multimedia, large-scale environmental data acquisition system, the embedded system optimization, networking middleware, distributed cache technology and other things. The research team focus on the development of software and hardware co design, distributed message middleware architecture, large scale SQL database, the high concurrent network communication framework, data storage and data mining application.
2. Research on network control system and intelligent information processing
Networked control system is a more flexible and more complex network which is formed by real-time feedback closed-loop control system through the sensors, controller, andexecutor. Intelligent information processing is one of the most important research field of artificial intelligence (AI), the domestic study of neural network and neural computer has boomed in recent years. These research achievements are used in image processing, pattern recognition, speech synthesis and robot control fields etc.
The number of team research network control system's basic problem, such as analysis methods, control theory and control technology. At same time, the latest research achievements of mathematics, logic, artificial intelligence, cognitive science and other fields is applied to the intelligent processing of all kinds of information, in order to expand the application of information technology in various fields of the national economy, improve the information processing technology social effect and economic benefit.
3. Wireless communication in Internet of things
In this direction, the protocol analysis and design, algorithm performance evaluation and optimization of wireless transmission technology in Internet of things are researched Through the integration of the ROF exchange technology, wireless communication, wireless ad hoc networks, distributed mobile network, wireless positioning technology, wireless home network, the mobile Internet and next generation wireless network.
The direction of the subject oriented networking key technology in wireless communications, including the Internet of things applications of wireless communication technology and intelligent agriculture, intelligent home furnishing, intelligent logistics, and other closely related to people's lives.
4. Image processing, pattern recognition and machine vision
with the rapid development of the pattern recognition and computer technology, the research on image processing and pattern recognition in the direction of IOT application are gradually deepening, their applications are continually expanding, and have been widely applied in the fields of industrial detection, intelligent transportation, behavior recognition, target recognition and video analysis.
The direction of the subject study the theory and key technology of image processing and pattern recognition. professional research and development personnel and the training of the direction, and actively carry out exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad. the research direction characteristic ofimage processing and pattern recognition technology is their application in emergency management, safe city, intelligent transportation and related intelligent visual detection and other fields, to serve the local economic construction.
Research achievements
In the past few years, the members of research team mainly focused on the sense and knowledge of IOT. They have published more than 40 papers and 3 books. They have 5 projects supported by national natural science foundation of China, 4 projects supported byscience and technology program ofHenan province and 5 projects supported by science and technology program of Zhengzhou. They have also trained 7 postgraduates.
