《阿甘正传》是一部喜剧或者说是悲剧也不过分，电影以插叙的方式回忆了低能儿，阿甘辉煌积极的一生。由于少年时期的欺辱，唯一的玩伴珍妮让他不停奔跑，从而躲避别人的暴力欺辱，在不停奔跑的旅途中，他收获了亲情友情爱情，并一一失去了他们。这场漫长的旅途中，颇具喜剧性，却发人深省，最后以阿甘结婚后失去爱人珍妮结束。
